WR14: Into the Sunset
A poem on acceptance of self
Into the Sunset
Body aching, breath breaking— this is how
you know you are alive.
Twilight cannot contain the restlessness
with no name, colors streaking a sky
with careless abandon, claiming
a place they seek as their own.
A girl becomes woman becomes
more than herself standing beneath—
more a ripening than maturity,
a coming into oneself,
a reclamation of what was always there,
inherent even across shadow and bone.
A bloodletting of the sky promises healing
and each canvas stroke paints a step closer
towards a union written in preceding stars,
known by no one but herself. What is Wildfire Reckoning?
